Mission Statement
The Korean surname 성 or 成 (Sung) means "to rise" and "to succeed." To me, my family surname speaks to the resilience that it takes to rise above life's challenges and to succeed in creating your own path in life. The mission of Sung Therapy is to offer a therapeutic space in which we celebrate the human spirit and to build on our resilience to rise.

(she/her)
Hello. I'm Sheila Lee (she/her), a retired professor with over 15 years of teaching and research experience exploring the relationship between the intersections of social identities and one's lived experiences. I have also worked as a clinical social worker providing case management, crisis intervention, and mental health services to clients with complex trauma(s) and high acuity scores. I draw on these experiences in my healing work to help you find your balance and inner harmony.
I believe that clients are experts in their lives and they inherently know what is best for them. Thus, my role is to empower clients to (re)discover their strengths and to connect them with evidence-based tools and strategies that feels "just right" for them. Since there is no "one-size-fits-all" intervention, I utilize an integrative approach from multiple treatment approaches, such as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) which explores the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and behavior from a trauma-focused position.
People often tell me that my "super power" is the ability to be empathetic and compassionate; I bring my super power with me into the sessions. I invite you to experience that therapeutic space.

Dr. Lee's Assistants
Cooper - aka just Cooper
Hi! My name is Cooper. Many people think that my grandma, aka Dr. Lee, is my mom and Rusty is my brother. Although Rusty is younger, he is actually my uncle; some family trees are a little confusing like that. My super power is my ability to purr at a frequency of 25-150 Hz. Some scientists believe that my purrs can increase bone density and relax muscles of those around me. Even though I may not be in your sessions know that my purrs are most likely transcending space-time continuum to find their way to you. Meow, Cooper out.
Sir Rusty Tow-Mater - aka Rusty
Hi, I'm Rusty! My mom, Dr. Lee, adopted me because she wanted to have a therapy dog in her practice. Well, I realized (before my mom did) that being a therapy dog did not bring me joy. I am now working on living my best life being curious about what brings me joy. Happiness to me is all about setting and reinforcing firm, healthy boundaries with my family. Although I'm not a therapy dog my mom says, I am a certified "good boy." My super power is helping others around me find joy in everyday moments. Woof! Woof!
